Hip Fracture Care
The Hip Fracture Care Program at the Center for Advanced Orthopedics at Physicians Regional has been specifically designed to help older adults recover after the unfortunate event of a fracture — usually as a result of osteoporosis.
Our program brings together a team of experienced and expert surgeons and physicians with caring and specially trained nurses, therapists and technicians. Together with the patient and family, we will develop a plan to best manage care and treatment after a hip fracture. Our goal is to provide seamless coordinated care with the best possible outcome in mind.
Streamlined Admission, Fast Track Approach
Studies have shown that hip fracture patients that are quickly evaluated and treated have improved outcomes. That’s why we have implemented a fast track approach for patients arriving in our Emergency Department with a suspected fracture. Expedited protocols and priority evaluation allow most patients to be cleared and prepared for surgery to repair the fracture within 24 hours of admission.
Pain Management
Because hip fractures can be painful, effective pain management is one of the program’s top priorities. In addition to working together to surgically repair the fracture as soon as safely possible, our multidisciplinary team will take an aggressive approach to relieving discomfort before and after surgery. We will be involved in your pain management plan even after you leave the hospital.
Dedicated Place, Dedicated People
Within our hospital, we have created a special area just for the care of our hip fracture patients and their families. Our staff has been handpicked for their positive attitudes, motivational skills, and their desire to provide outstanding service. In addition, they have been specially trained to provide comprehensive clinical care for people who have undergone surgical repair of a fracture.
Our Commitment to Excellence
We are continuously evaluating and measuring our performance to ensure that we provide the highest quality program possible, tailored to each and every patient. Our team meets regularly with a focus on maintaining clinical and service excellence in all aspects of our program.
