Dr. Allison R. Farris Joins Tennova’s Medical Staff

Surgeon specializes in minimally invasive procedures

KNOXVILLE, TN (August 2, 2018) – Tennova Healthcare recently welcomed Allison R. Farris , M.D., general surgeon, to her new medical practice at Tennova General Surgery – Jefferson. Dr. Farris is experienced in a wide range of general surgery procedures and techniques. She specializes in minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopy, endoscopy, colonoscopy and thoracoscopy, as well as laparotomy procedures. She has a special interest in hernia, gallbladder, appendix, colon, reflux, breast disease, and trauma surgeries. Dr. Farris performs surgery exclusively at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City.

She earned her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV. Dr. Farris also completed a surgical residency at the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA.

“A major focus of my training and experience is in the area of minimally invasive surgery, including endoscopy and laparoscopy,” Dr. Farris said. “Using specialized instruments and a miniature video camera, I am able to see inside the body and perform a variety of procedures, such as gallbladder removal and hernia repair. I also have a special interest in breast surgery for both benign and malignant diseases.”
