2/26/2019
On January 28, Tennova Healthcare broke ground for a new cardiac catheterization laboratory at Turkey Creek Medical Center, which will complement the existing four cath labs located at the hospital in Farragut. In addition to increasing capacity for diagnostic and interventional heart procedures, including angioplasty and heart stent placement, the expansion project will allow for additional support space for pre- and post-procedure care. The cath lab construction project, along with the completion of a new cardiac intensive care unit, will add 24 additional beds to the facility.
According to Tony Benton, chief executive officer of Tennova Healthcare in East Tennessee, more than 3,100 cardiac catheterization procedures and 300 open heart surgeries were performed at Turkey Creek Medical Center in 2018. “While it is the expertise of the Tennova Heart team that is the most important factor, they do need advanced technology and modern facilities to do their work. We are very excited to begin our cardiac catheterizations lab expansion,” Benton said a the groundbreaking ceremony. Tennova Healthcare is also expanding cardiovascular services at North Knoxville Medical Center in Powell.
