Hospital Dedicates Renovated Waiting Room in Honor of Volunteer Program
LEBANON, TENNESSEE (February 8, 2019) – For more than two decades, the volunteer auxiliary at Tennova Healthcare – Lebanon has steadfastly contributed to the needs of the 245-bed hospital, providing support services and contributing to the care and comfort of patients, visitors and family members alike. On Thursday, February 7, the group’s most-recent gift to the hospital was unveiled before an appreciative audience of physicians, medical support staff, administrators and local business and community leaders.
With the donation, the auxiliary funded a significant portion of the Surgical/ICU Waiting Room renovation project. The money was used to obtain new furniture, upgrade bathroom flooring, replace the wallpaper with a fresh coat of paint, and purchase and hang a large-screen television monitor in the space.
“The Tennova Healthcare – Lebanon Volunteer Auxiliary raises funds year-round,” says Harold Scott, the organization’s president. “Our mission is simple: To render services to the hospital and its patients, to encourage the health and well-being of our local community and to secure funding for additional patient services. This renovation project is a tangible illustration of how our dozens of dedicated volunteers, and the money they raise, make a difference in people’s lives every day.”
And visitors to the Surgical/ICU Waiting Room won’t have to look very far to see other examples of the auxiliary’s work. Hospital administration has decided to dedicate the renovated space in honor of the volunteer program in recognition and gratitude for their many years of loyalty and commitment. Black-and-white photographs of auxiliary volunteers in action will grace the walls of the waiting room.
“For at least a quarter of a century, this group of stalwart individuals has epitomized what it means to selflessly serve others,” said Jay Hinesley, Chief Executive Officer of Tennova Healthcare – Lebanon. “Their unwavering devotion to our patients and their families, the hospital’s staff and our healthcare providers, and the entire Lebanon and Wilson County community is truly remarkable. It’s only fitting, then, that we dedicate the hospital’s remodeled Surgical/ICU Waiting Room in their name to honor their generosity, determination and compassion.”
The waiting room’s formal dedication and ribbon-cutting was followed by a Lebanon-Wilson County Business After Hours. More than 70 business and community leaders had an opportunity to see the auxiliary-funded improvements first-hand.
