A higher level of expertise in the care of patients with STEMI improves patient outcomes.
Cleveland, TN (April 25, 2021) – On Thursday, April 28th, Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland Cardiac Professionals and Bradley County Chamber members and STEMI survivors will be gathering to celebrate the over 100 survivors in support of the success of the Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland STEMI program.
STEMI (ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction) is a medical emergency and one of the deadliest forms of heart attack. Survival can be measured in minutes and requires aggressive treatment in a timely manner to prevent permanent heart damage. The STEMI program works as a collaboration between paramedics and the hospital to identify a STEMI heart attack so that cardiac teams can prepare for a patient’s arrival for quick intervention in the cardiac catheterization lab.
“We are dedicated to helping our patients have the best possible chance of survival after a STEMI and Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland’s STEMI program reduces barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks,” says JT Barnhart, chief executive officer Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland.
Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland is equipped to handle cardiac emergencies. The Chest Pain Center is highly specialized and devoted to treating patients with acute coronary syndrome. These centers are designed to enhance patient care by decreasing the time to treatment for heart attack. The team rapidly identifies patients presenting with unstable angina (chest pain), and provides fast treatment to prevent heart attacks. The teams are trained and dedicated to providing 24-hour care for the treatment of chest pain.
Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland maintains accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation through the American College of Cardiology. An accredited Chest Pain Center’s (CPC) evidence-based, protocol-driven and systematic approach to cardiac patient care allows ER and cardiac teams to reduce time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. Accredited chest pain centers have met or exceeded specific criteria and completed a comprehensive onsite review by accreditation specialists. This accreditation affirms a higher level of expertise in the care of patients with symptoms of a heart attack to improve patient outcomes.
